CSUS Arts Resource Fair
March 8, 2008 - The focus is on learning how to enliven and enrich reading, math, and other subjects with the arts! Educators, administrators, artists, and parents were invited to the eighth annual CSUS Arts Resource Faire at Sacramento State University in the University Union.
Among the performers at the event (which included a Wax Museum of Living History by Creative Connections Academy middle school students and “Blues in the Schools,” and Songs of the Western Soil by local musicians Horse Sense) were Hip Hop dancers from one of Leonardo da Vinci K-8 School's integrated I Can Do That! groups.
Artists and educators, including VSA arts of California Executive Director, Alice Parente, presented workshops on how to integrate visual arts, music, theatre, and dance into classroom curriculum. More than 25 vendors were also on hand to share information about materials and services that can enhance visual and performing arts instruction.
The event is a project of the College of Education’s graduate program specializing in Arts in Education. Event sponsors include the College of Education; Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission; Phi Delta Kappa, Sacramento Chapter; and Sacramento State University Enterprises, Inc.
