A strong proponent of child abuse prevention, VSAS used theatre arts techniques to provide personal safety training and teach methods of abuse prevention to students with developmental disabilities as part of the Safe Life Project for Children with Disabilities from 2001-2006. The organization again demonstrated its support for anti-abuse efforts by being part of this years Kids' Day at the Capitol. VSAS students from Luther Burbank High School participated in the event's activities by performing their Hip Hop routine on the west steps of the Capitol building where they were cheered by hundreds of event attendees.
