2005 Winter Festival of Arts,
Tsakopoulos Gallery, Central Library
The Very Special Festival of Art is a part of Very special Arts Sacramento, which unites 50 schools from 4 different school districts, 10 developmental centers, and over 3000 students. Leonardo da Vinci School brough in visual art, hip-hop and the rock band (Ned Hammad, Director, Owen jackman, Sp.Ed. teacher). Leonardo da Vinci K-8 School is a community dedicated to the development of the whole child as a curious and inventive person, responsible for preserving and creating beauty in our cultural and natural environments.
"The Festival is a wonderful way for the general public (artists, teachers, parents etc) to be entertained and to have fun" , said Kevin McCarty, councilmember from District 6.
" It is a positive opportunity to share quality time with young people with disabilities and experience their talents and capabilities" , added Dave Raske, Professor of Special Education, CSUS. Cyndi Speakman, Emcee, was holding her ground in front of 400-member adience.
James Marshall Elementary School brought hip-hop dance, showing real professionalism. The School is in the heart of the Rosemont community. Its mission is to continually create and maintain a learning environment that enables students to believe that learning is forever.
MoChristian was one of the distinguished guests of the Festival (on the picture with his teacher Kathy Lemke-Waste). Christian is a patient at Shriners hospital. His works of art inspired our new T-shirt design and postcards for the upcoming show at the chic East Sac gallery JayJay.
