Advancing Sacramento Arts
The Sacramento Region Community Foundation announced VSA arts of California as one of six recipients of the new Advancing Sacramento Arts initiative funded by the James Irvine Foundation. The grant will support Sacramento's I CAN DO THAT! Community Arts Shows & Performances during the 2009-2010 school year.

John, a former I CAN DO THAT! student, and his mother Kathy Masterson, are annual contributors to the program and supported the organization throughout the Advancing Sacramento Arts grant application process. |
"VSA arts of California is honored to receive the Advancing Sacramento Arts grant," said Parente. "The Foundation's support of our program begins an exciting partnership for our organization and ensures that children and youth of all abilities are included in the growing Sacramento arts community."
I CAN DO THAT! Community Art Shows & Performances engage children and youth as creators and consumers of the arts, fostering life-long arts appreciation; cultivate a new community of arts participants by presenting arts displays and productions at community and non-conventional venues; and create arts experiences that come from and reach out to diverse communities by developing partnerships with individuals and agencies that strengthen and grow the Sacramento arts community as well as the organization itself.
Advancing Sacramento Arts is an initiative of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, and is funded by the James Irvine Foundation.
