The Sacramento Zoo
June 3, 2008 - Hip hop dancers from James Marshall, Jed Smith, and Caroline Wenzel Elementary School started off performances at this year's VSA Days at the Zoo. Breakdancers from A.M. Winn Elementary and Woodbine Elementary had a dance-off--a competition to see which school has the most skilled performers.
Puppeteers from Fern Bacon Middle School used marionettes to bring the poem "Morn' of Mayfest" to life. Leonardo da Vinci K-8 School drummers counted-off beats with professional percussionist Kevin Goings. And, finally, theatre arts students (Leonardo da Vinci K-8 School) staged a performance using 45 brightly colored 10-foot-tall PVC pipes. Additionally, professional visual artists Walter Cervantes, Pat Dawson, and Julie Madden set up displays of their students artwork from Leonardo da Vinci K-8 School and Ethel I. Baker Elementary School.
