Artist-Teacher Training: Wednesday, January 11, 2006
VSAS kicked off its spring 2006 I CAN DO THAT! program with an Artist-Teacher Training. Over 60 artists and teachers were present at the training at which Executive Director, Alice Parente, provided an overview of the history and mission of Very Special Arts Sacramento and its longest running program I CAN DO THAT!. Teachers and artists then worked together to plan how I CAN DO THAT! will be implemented in their own classrooms over the next few months. An important activity at the training required that teachers and artists choose skills strands from California State Board of Education Content Standards requirements for Language Arts and Mathematics which they will use over the course of the program as guidelines for lesson planning and evaluation of the students work.
