VSAS student's painting selected for the 2007 ArtLink Exhibition:
Thursday, February 1, 2007

National VSA arts in partnership with Creative Connections presented a certificate of merit to VSAS student Robert Bernal for his participation in the 2007 ArtLink Exhibition. Bernal's painting was selected to exhibit with other ArtLink participants from around the world. Congratulations Robert!

ArtLink is Creative Connections' special international exchange program designed for art classes. Students from grades 3 through 12 work on art projects based on a yearly theme, one that requires each young artist to thoughtfully reflect on his/her life and culture. The completed pieces are exchanged with an overseas partner art class. ArtLink is an adventure in cross-cultural discovery, a way for students to expand beyond their locality to feel their inclusion in a global community. They discover that art is a surprisingly effective and satisfying medium for expressing and sharing their ideas with new international friends. As well as discovering that they share many of the same interests, dreams, and goals, the young artists also often find intriguing differences in how they live.

Creative Connections is a non-profit international cultural exchange organization that sets up class-to-class exchanges between American schools and their counterparts in many countries. Creative Connections is founded on the belief that when young people from different parts of the world are given the opportunity to interact in a creative way, exciting and important learning takes place. Participants gain a keener awareness, understanding, and appreciation of other cultures, as well as their own.
