Our Mission & Goals

VSA arts of California at Sacramento (formerly Very Special Arts California at Sacramento) is an affiliate of VSA arts of California, National VSA arts, and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The National Very Special Arts program, which became National VSA arts in 1999, was established in 1976 by Jean Kennedy Smith. National VSA arts mission at all levels is to promote the creative power in people with disabilities.

VSA arts of California at Sacramento has adopted and adapted the mission of National VSA arts within Sacramento County. Our goals are twofold:

  1. To promote artistic excellence and provide educational opportunities through the Arts for children of all abilities
  2. To educate the general public, reduce fear, and promote awareness regarding the capabilities and accomplishments of people with disabilities.
